Our server was down for a few hours. Everything should be working fine again now.
If you haven't checked your email, I'll insert below the message I sent yesterday. We've begun mailing announcements of new additions to the archives again, and becoming a subscriber is easier and cheaper than ever. Thanks for being a part of sfpix, and have fun!
Hello there!! :-)
What an awfully long time it's been. I have great news to announce about the Silverfox Pictures Archive.
First of all, you're getting this message because I've found time to work on the site again! I hope to continue fixing and updating it and adding some of the features I've imagined for a long time.
As a start, we're sending these email announcements of new photos again. We've been updating the site all along, so if you've haven't been following, you'll have a lot to enjoy at:
We stopped emailing announcements because our hosting service requested that we develop a more direct way for members to unsubscribe. You'll now find a link at the bottom of every message customized just for you. It takes you to a page where you can turn the announcements on or off with one click.
The second big news is that we've drastically reduced the cost of subscribing to the site. I originally priced it with the idea that I'd be adding several improvements soon, but life interfered with that. We've lowered the price of subscribing to $15 a year. I think that's fair for what we offer. As always, you don't have to subscribe to enjoy the site. The photos are available for free; subscribing just gives you some extra features.
We're using a new form for processing payments, so let us know if you have any problems with it. We'll also be seeing a lot more traffic than usual, so forgive any hiccups related to email or the site.
We hope you've all been well and happy. Let us know about any problems you see and enjoy the men!
I haven't updated the news page in awhile because there's been nothing to report. :-) No problems with the site, and new photos added regularly. I've been doing a lot of traveling already this year (hello from sunny Spain!), but have managed to keep the sexy men coming. I'll do some more work on the site during downtime – enjoy the pix meanwhile! As always, let us know if we can do anything for you.
If you haven't been watching the new pix section, we've been doing just fine. :) Lots of hot men appearing all the time, and I'm looking forward to doing more work on the site in 2017. I hope everyone's had a great year, with an even better one ahead.
We're still here, despite the long dry spell. I went on a transatlantic cruise, then spent six weeks in Europe. I thought I would have time to work on the site while I was there, but it didn't turn out that way. I've arrived back in the U.S., and should be back in action in the next week or two. Thanks so much for your patience, hope you've been enjoying the pix in the meantime!
The site is continuing to be updated, but email announcements have been stopped due to spam complaints from AOL users which necessitate a change in the way we send the announcements. For now, you can continue to see what's new at http://sfpix.net/new/, or get announcements through our Twitter or Facebook pages.
I want to apologize for the site going silent for several weeks. During the first week of December, many weeks of not feeling well culminated in a trip to the emergency room to seek treatment for clinical depression. I was placed on medication and moved to Fort Lauderdale to continue treatment and seek counseling. This is a new experience for me, and one that has been all-consuming. I've reached a point of stability and am feeling much better, but all my time has been taken with healing myself and catching up on many, many chores that had been left undone since the end of October. I'll be going on a cruise with my partner tomorrow until the middle of February, and hope to be back and updating the site after that. I greatly appreciate everyone's patience and support. I hope that you're all well and the year's off to a great start for you. Please take care of yourselves.
I'm sorry for the lack of posts last week. I returned from a week at a campground, and as soon as I got out my laptop, it died. I'll have to work out a system for posting updates from my iPad. I've been busy all week preparing for a trip. At the end of May, I sold everything except what I could fit in my car, and got on the road. Now, I'm slimming down to just a backpack in order to travel west. I'll be in Denver next week, then San Francisco for the rest of August. If any sfpix fans are around, maybe we can meet up! In the meantime, I'll continue working out the kinks in my on-the-road systems, and thank you for your patience.
Thanks again for all of the support during the whirlwind time I've had the last few weeks. I've been spending every day selling my belongings, emptying my house, and getting on the road. I locked the door behind me June 1st, and became a nomad. I've been in Philadelphia, am headed to Baltimore, then Charlotte, then who knows? Preparing to travel and traveling have left me without time to update sfpix until now. I'm back, but will be posting on a more modest schedule until my life becomes a little more stable in a couple of weeks. It's good to be back with you, looking forward to sharing lots more beautiful men together.
I'm sorry that nothing has been posted to sfpix for a couple of weeks. My father died last month, and my partner broke up with me last week. It's been a busy and difficult time, and I'm in the middle of selling everything in my house and moving. I'll prepare new postings as I'm able, but it's going to be intermittent for a while. Thanks very much for your understanding and patience.
The were some unexpected problems when me moved to a new domain registrar, and sfpix was sometimes unavailable over the weekend. The problems should be settled now, and we apologize for the inconvenience.
I'd like to take a moment to talk about the status of the Silverfox Pictures Archive, a status which has been a status quo for a very long time. No one is more aware than I am that the site is quite old by contemporary standards and has long been in need of an overhaul. The last round of changes I made to it were halfway measures, some of them made as quick fixes meant to be quickly replaced but which have stayed on for years. Unfortunately, my personal life has been repeatedly flying apart in various ways for the past five years. I never intended to neglect sfpix, but here's what's been happening:
In the Fall of 2008, my partner Glenn became ill and eventually spent four months in the hospital and in a rehab center. By the time he was discharged in the Spring, he had developed dementia, and I became a fulltime caregiver for him. That Summer, my mother suffered a stroke and my father and brother were in a car accident a few days later. When my parents moved into assisted living that Fall, Glenn and I moved from Maryland to West Virginia to care for their house and ready it for sale. We moved home ten months later, and things seemed to settle down for a while.
I found the time to sketch out an ambitious plan for sfpix and shopped it around to several web development companies. When I didn't get any satisfactory bids on the work, I decided to do it myself. Shortly after I started on it, Glenn became sick again and died after a month in the hospital. A couple of months later, my father had two heart attacks. I quickly put our house on the market and moved back to West Virginia to help with him and Mom. Four months later, my mother died. I spent the next months trying to help my father cope with being alone for the first time in 63 years. That Summer, I developed arthritis in my neck and have been in constant pain for the last year. I'm on my second round of physical therapy and hope to continue to improve, but I can still only spend a very limited amount of time on the computer each day, and launching a major renovation of sfpix is impossible for now.
Where does that leave us in the meantime? Right where we've been these five years, not advancing as I'd hoped, but at least going along as well as ever. While I regret I haven't been able to bring you all the new ideas I planned, I'm glad I've been able to continue updating the site several times a week through it all, and we've been able to enjoy together the ever-expanding bounty of beautiful men the world has to offer us. I plan for that to continue indefinitely. This isn't a message to tell you anything is changing, but one to explain why nothing has changed and why it's unlikely anything will change until I start feeling better. I thank you for your patience and continued support of sfpix. It's been quite a long and difficult few years for me, and I've been meaning for some time to tell you what's been going on. I hope we'll be able to move forward together soon, and that we'll continue to share our common passion for years to come.
At the beginning of April, our hosting service asked us to migrate sfpix to their new server farm. They neglected to mention that the site would blow up in a half dozen different ways because of a mismatch between the kernel on our virtual machine and the one on the server it was running on. We've had widespread filesystem corruption and assorted wonkiness. I've been restoring the site from backups and doing little patchwork fixes until I've had time for a real solution.
When I came home two nights ago, I had a notification that the site was down, and when I tried to get it going again, the server wouldn't boot. I made one final backup of our data, wiped the server, and reinstalled from scratch. Hopefully, we're stable again.
I believe I've tested everything. Let us know if I've missed anything, or if anything starts to fail again. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience, and hope we can all get back to just enjoying some beautiful men. :-)
P.S.: As always, you can catch up on anything you've missed at /new/. (Excuse the as-yet-unfixed from-the-future entries left over from the filesystem problems.)
The Silverfox Archive went down again and failed to reboot on 6/30. All of the data was backed up from it, and the server has been reinstalled from scratch. We're currently reinstalling all of the photos. There are a lot of pix to be uploaded to the server, so it's a slow process. We hope to have the site up and running again tomorrow. We're sorry for the inconvenience, and thank everyone for your patience!
See you again soon,
